Artis was born July 11, 1934 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Norbert and Frieda (Zimmermann) Braun. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1952. She married Richard C. Laurin on July 10, 1954, at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church. Artis was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, yardwork, and watching the grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband: Richard C. Laurin, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law: Michael (Joleen "Jodi") Laurin, New Port Richey, FL; one daughter and son-in-law: Nancy (John A.) Ording, Newton; three grandchildren: Candice (Tim) Stadick; Brandon (Shanna) Laurin; Benjamin (Jennifer) Ording; two great grandchildren: Aden Ording and Ava Ording; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Pat Braun; Pat Laurin; Edna Laurin, Donna Laurin, Douglas Laurin; Robert (Lillian) Laurin; John (Dede) Laurin; Leon (Maria) Laurin; Gary (Lucy) Laurin; Rosemary (John) Frey; Agnes Antczek; special great niece: Isabella Denk. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one brother and sister-law: Robert (Patricia) Braun; five brothers-in-law: Kenneth, Donald, Russell, Edward Laurin, Pat Antczek; one sister-in-law: Lois Laurin
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2011, at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1033 South 8th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Benjamin
Schaefer will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. The Reinbold and Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is assisting the Laurin family with arrangements.
