Mrs. Viola Lefky, age 97, a Manitowoc resident, who currently was residing at
the Noth Ridge Care Center, Manitowoc, died Sunday evening, May 9, 1993, at
North Ridge Care Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be 12 noon Wednesday, May 12, 1993, at St. Boniface Catholic
Church, Manitowoc. Presiding the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Gerald
Prusakowski O.F.M. with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born March 6, 1896, at Maple Grove, daughter of the late Mathew and
Katherine Welsch Cavanaugh. She married Earl Plantico on February 21, 1921.
He preceded her in death February 14, 1939. She then married Frank C. Lefky
August 28, 1943, and he preceded her in death November 14, 1974. Mrs. Lefky
lived in Manitowoc County most of her life and attended Manitowoc County Schools
and was a graduate of the Reedsville High School. She was a teacher for 38 years
in Manitowoc and Brown County School system retiring in 1961. She was a member
of the Pythian Sisters of Manitowoc, a past member of St. Anne Christian Mothers
Alter Society of St. Boniface parish. Mrs. Lefky was a member of St. Boniface
parish and a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Brown County.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Vivian Jole, Sheboygan, Mrs. Gladys Pleuss,
Manitowoc; a step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Dolores and Donald Esler, Oshkosh,
two step grandchildren, Susan and Fredrich Esler; four step-great grandchildren,
Andrew and Kyle Verwey, and Lee and Thor Esler, nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends survive.
Friends may meet with the family at St. Boniface Catholic Church from 10 a.m.
Wednesday until the time of service at 12 noon.
Memorials would be appreciated to St. Boniface Catholic Church.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral
arrangements.
