Howard J. Lensmire, age 85, formerly of 1012 N. 16th Street, Manitowoc died Monday evening, June 6, 2011 at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.

Howard was born August 9, 1925 in the town of Franklin, son of the late Joseph and Rose (Oswald) Lensmire. He graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc with the class of 1943. Howard served in the United States Navy during WWII on the U.S.S. Pecos. He married the former Rosemary Fessler on May 17, 1952 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Alverno. She preceded him in death on December 22, 2007. Howard was a master plumber and was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local #400.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Christine and Michael Miller, Ripon; three sons: Peter Lensmire, Two Rivers; James Lensmire, Ennis, TX; Todd Lensmire and Marie Hare, Lake Jackson, TX; six grandchildren: Margaret (Mark) Boucher, Shailah (Joseph) Handy, Caroline, Samuel, Andrew and Aaron Miller; one great grandson Henry Boucher; one sister and brother-in-law: Lyndoris and Lawrence Brey, Sr., Elkhart Lake; four sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law: Marjorie and Myron Habermann, Manitowoc; Ann and Emery Casper, Plymouth; Mildred and Donald Duchon, Manitowoc; Jean and Robert Eis, Two Rivers; and one brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Anthony and Joan Fessler, Manitowoc. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton. Burial will follow services at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc where graveside military rites will be accorded by the V.F.W. Otto Oas Post #659 of Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc on Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A prayer service led by Deacon Ken Nelesen will conclude the visitation at 7:00 p.m. The visitation will continue on Friday morning, June 10, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc is assisting the Lensmire family with funeral arrangements.
