HEART ATTACK PROVES FATAL
Mrs. Leverenz, 76, Dies Two Weeks After Fall On Ice
Mrs. Bertha Leverenz, 76, who fell on an icy sidewalk two weeks ago and fractured
her hip, died today at the Holy Family hospital. Her condition showed improvement
until she suffered a heart attack early this morning.
Mrs. Leverenz, who was a resident here for nearly 70 years, made her home with her
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wernecke, 914 South 12th street, since
the death of her husband, Fred Levernz.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from the home of a son, Grover
Herzog, 726 North 12th street, and at two o'clock from the First German Evangelical
Lutheran church. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Born in Germany
Mrs. Leverenz, nee Bertha Kubit, wsa born in Germany in 1860. When a girl of 8 she
accompanied her parents to America. The family located in this city.
Fifty-seven years ago she was married to Henry Herzog who died 40 years ago. Twenty-
five years ago she was married to Fred Leverenz, who died five years later.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Wernecke, city; three sons, Edward and Grover Herzog,
city, and Harry Herzog, Seattle, Wash.; two step-sons; a brother, Bernard Kubitz,
Milwaukee; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
The body will be removed to the Grover Herzog home Thursday afternoon from the Wattawa,
Urbanek and Schlei funeral home.
