CHAS. LIEBERT, PIONEER FARMER, DIES TODAY
Charles (sic) Liebert, 85 year old Town of Manitowoc farmer, died at his farm
home near Silver Creek early today following a stroke he suffered last Saturday.
Mr. Liebert had been in excellent health up until the time of his stroke.
Mr. Liebert, born at Possen (sic), Germany, May 25, 1841, came to this country
at the age of 21, coming directly to Manitowoc county and settling near Collins
where he stayed but a short time and then removed to a far near Silver Creek on
which he has since made his home. Until a year ago Mr. Liebert was actively
engaged in farming, taking deep pride in the farm which is conceded to be one of
the finest in the county.
Funeral Friday
Eight years ago, with Mrs. Liebert, whom he married Thanksgiving day, 1868, the
couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mrs. Liebert passed away a
year after, and with the passing of Mr. Liebert today, six of their nine children
are left to survive them, with eleven grandchildren. The children are Mrs. Henry
Koch, Mrs. Henry Detjen and Mrs. Stanley Buretta, all of this city, Mrs. Eugene
Romer of Kenosha and Hugo and John Liebert of Milwaukee and Chicago respectively.
One sister, Mrs. Henrietta Wilharms, also survives Mr. Liebert.
Funeral services will be held from the home at Silver Creek, Friday afternoon at
1 o’clock to the German Lutheran church in this city where the Rev. Machmiller
will conduct services at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Evergreen.
