Mrs. A.J. (Katherine) Lies, 87, of 1901 Waldo Blvd., Manitowoc, died Tuesday evening, November 12, at the family residence. Funeral services will be 11 am Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. William Zimmer and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Lies, nee Katherine C. Frank, was born October 11, 1898, at Mariestown, Minnesota, daughter of the late Michael and Mary Mueller Frank. She was a graduate of St. Cloud's Teachers College. She married A.J. Lies on August 6, 1923 at St. Cloud, Minnesota. The couple resided at Washington Court House, Ohio, Sauk Center, Minnesota, Albert Lea, Minnesota and Ironwood, Michigan, prior to settling in Manitowoc on July 1, 1945. Mrs. Lies was a member of Catholic Womens Club, Elks Lodge No. 706 Auxiliary, and had been active in various community services.
Survivors include her husband, A.J., a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Mary Ann Lies of Burlington, Iowa; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Richard R. Rohrer of Manitowoc; a brother, Mr. A.W. Frank of St. Cloud, Minnesota; a sister, Mrs. Theresa Conway of Fond du Lac; seven grandchildren, William Rohrer, Mary Grams, Susan Kirking, Richard Lies, Kathy Lies, Robert Lies and Jane O'Mahoney; three great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 5 pm to 8 pm Thursday where a prayer service will be at 7 pm Thursday evening by Rev. Donald Schneider, Catholic Womens Club, relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to the Roncalli Scholarship Fund.
