Esther W. Mahnke, age 84, a former Manitowoc resident, died Friday,
July 1, 1994, at the Lutheran Home for Aging, Wauwatosa.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. at
Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Keith Haag will officiate
with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
She was born March 25, 1910 a Manitowoc, daughter of the late
Engelbrecht and Gure Winddingstad Waarum. She grew up and was
educated at Manitowoc and was a 1927 graduate of Lincoln High School.
She graduated from the National College of Education in Evanston,
Ill., and was a librarian with the Manitowoc public school system
for 20 years, retiring in 1972. She was married to LeRoy F. Mahnke
May 4, 1935 at Friesland, Wis. He preceded her in death July 13,
1982. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Raymond
Duemke, Wauwatosa; three granddaughters, Michelle, Sara, and Gretchen
Duemke; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Paul and Gladys Mahnke,
and All and LaVerne Jansky, all of Manitowoc. Further survived by
nephews and friends. Preceded in death by two sons, Calvin C. Mahnke,
1965, and an infant son, Franz Mahnke, brother and sister-in-law,
Cornelius and Kathrine Waarum
Friends may call at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church on Wednesday
from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
