Mary Anne Marx, 63, Manitowoc, entered into Eternal Life, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, following a courageous eight year battle with cancer.

Mary Anne was born on October 21, 1947 in Two Rivers, Wisconsin to the late John and Leona Schepper Paulow. On November 27, 1969 she married Benedict Marx at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.

Mary Anne graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers. She attended the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, graduating from Silver Lake College in Manitowoc with a degree in art education. In 1983 she and Ben boldly moved their family to Saudi Arabia where Mary Anne taught elementary art for eleven years at the Saudi Arabian International School in Riyadh. After returning to Wisconsin she taught art at St. Francis Cabrini Middle School in Manitowoc for ten years, retiring in 2010. Mary Anne especially enjoyed chairing the annual Youth Art Month exhibits at the Rahr West Museum in Manitowoc.

She is survived by her husband Ben of 41 years Of Marital bliss Ben; their three children, Brett (Janet) Marx of Manitowoc, Nicholas (Leslie) Marx of Neenah and Melissa (Clint) Dorn of Hortonville; four grandchildren, Andrew Gretchen, Sam and Brandon; her brother Scott Paulow of Two Rivers; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Marshall. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Daniel Felton with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. lead by Deacon John Vincent to conclude the visitation. The visitation will continue on Monday, September 19, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Marshall from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 10:00 a.m.

Mary Anne's second love was art in all its forms. She believed art was to be enjoyed by everyone and dedicated her teaching career to sharing this joy of appreciating and creating art with her students. She treasured the adventure of travel, having visited 33 different countries in her lifetime. She was a caring wife, mother and grandmother who loved to draw and read with her grandchildren. Mary Anne saw the world and made it a more beautiful place. The family asks that you remember these good times. The family also thanks the kind and caring staff of Holy Family Cancer Care Center and Homecare and Hospice.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
