NORA B. MATTHEWS

Mrs. Nora Brey Matthews, 89, of the Santa Maria Nursing Home, Green Bay, died
early Thursday morning, March 21, 1991, at Santa Maria Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.
Officiating will be Rev. Richard E. Lind and burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
She was born October 4, 1901, in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Andrew and
Teresa Fisher Spaeth. She had been employed with Mirro Aluminum and also worked
as a Waitress for the V.F.W. Otto Oas Post 659. She had also done housecleaning
locally in Manitowoc. She was married to Carl H. Brey in 1923 in Manitowoc. He
preceded her in death September 27, 1941. She then married Dewey S. Matthews,
April 25, 1959. He preceded her in death June 23, 1972. She was a member of
First Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Otto Oas Post 659
Auxiliary and the World War I Barracks Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Elaine Brey of Manitowoc;
two daughters and sons-in-law, Lois and Herbert Kubsh of Manitowoc, Doris and
Richard Schneider of Green Bay; a sister, Rose LaFond of Two Rivers; six
grandchildren; Gary, Terry and Randy Brey of Manitowoc, Joseph Stelzer of
Manitowoc, Lisa and David Schneider of Green Bay. She was preceded in death by
two brothers, Joseph and Anton Spaeth, four sisters, Margaret Sohr, Ann Spaeth,
Theresa Beth and Mary Monka and three grandchildren.
Friends may call at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
this Friday and at the church on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of
services at 1:30 p.m. VFW Auxiliary Memorial Service at 6:30 p.m. this Friday.

Marriage of Carl/Nora Brey-Carl d. 1941-Her first husband
The marriage of Miss Nora Beatrice Spaeth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Spaeth,
1613 Twenty-Third Street, took place at Milwaukee Saturday. The groom is Carl H.
Brey of Manitowoc. The ceremony was performed at the Hotel Pfister of Milwaukee.
Miss Joyce Murphy and Lewis Waldorf, friends of Mr. and Mrs. Brey were the
attending couple.
Following a luncheon at the Pfister Hotel at which twenty-five guests were present,
Mr. and Mrs. Brey left on a two weeks' honeymoon for Freeport, Il. They will be at
home to friends after March 16 at their home on North Eighth Street at Manitowoc
where the groom is employed at the Manitowoc Shipbuilding corporation.
