LORETTA T. MAU
Loretta Tully Mau, age 99, of Waupaca, formerly of Manitowoc, passed away on
Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at Bethany Home in Waupaca.
She was born Dec. 5, 1902 in Baltimore, Md., to Thomas W. and Maude (Gilbert)
Tully. Loretta grew up in Wauwatosa. After graduating from Wauwatosa High School
and Milwaukee Teachers College she taught kindergarten in the Manitowoc Public
Schools. She married Edward J. Mau on Jan. 2, 1926. They enjoyed 74 years of
marriage before Ed died at the age of 100 in May 2000.
In Manitowoc, Loretta was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, a
charter member of the Thalia Dramatic Club and was involved in many community
organizations. After Ed retired from the East Wisconsin Trustee Co., Manitowoc,
in 1972, they resided on Dake Lake on the Chain O’Lakes in Waupaca.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Marilyn and Bob Olson of Green
Bay and Waupaca; grandchildren: Julie (Dan) Thompson and their children: Meredith
and Emily of Neenah; Todd (Kerri) Olson of Ogema, Wis.; and one brother-in-law:
John Mau of Kaukauna. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Edward; a son: Edward T.
Mau in 1937; a grandson: Gregg R. Olson in 1974; two brothers; and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2002 at Bethany
Home Chapel in Waupaca. The Rev. Jonathan Sachs will officiate. Burial will be
in Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Loretta’s name to Bethany
Home.
The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca assisted the family with arrangements.
