Edward D. McCarty, 59, of 721 N. Sixth St., Manitowoc, died Saturday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc after four weeks of illness. Funeral services will be 9:30 am Tuesday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home and 10 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Claude LeClair will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. McCarty was born Oct. 2, 1907, at Manitowoc, son of the late DeWitt McCarty and Mary Mohr McCarty. He was graduated from Lincoln High School in 1926 and was a repairman for Wisconsin Telephone Co. for 39 years. He married Helen Grimmer Sept. 12, 1933 at Two Rivers. He was a member of Communications Workers of America and of the Telephone Pioneer club.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, Patrick of Manitowoc and Michael of Two Rivers; a daughter, Maureen at home; his mother of Manitowoc, two brothers, Mark of Portland, Ore., and Roland of Manitowoc; four sisters, Sister Rose Gertrude of Neopit, Wis., Mrs. R.J. Kantz of Fort Bills, Texas, Mrs. Kenneth Crandell, of Richmond, Calif., and Mrs. Irwin Knipp of Tucson, Ariz., and a grandchild. A daughter, Kathleen, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home where the rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock this Monday evening.
