JOHN A. MIXA
John A. Mixa, 76, of 1021 N. 8th St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday evening,
April 28, at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Innocents Catholic Church,
Manitowoc. The Rev. Daniel J. Felton will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Mixa was born Dec. 5, 1905, at Two Rivers, son of the late John A. and
Anna Bonn Mixa. He was educated at St. Luke Catholic School, Two Rivers, was
a 1923 graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers, and graduated in cost
accounting from Two Rivers Vocational School. He was employed at Mirro
Aluminum Company, until his retirement in 1969. He married Rosemarie P.
Persick, Sept. 19, 1927, at St. Killian Catholic Church, Hartford, Wis. The
couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1977. Mr. Mixa was a
member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church, and a charter member of Two Rivers
Jaycees.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemarie; two daughters and a son-in-law,
Shirleyann and Ray VanDette of Getzville, N.Y., and Ms. Donna Sheridan of
Green Bay; a brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Genevieve Mixa of Two
Rivers; a sister and brother-in-law, Marcella and William Blake of Glendale,
Wis., eight grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was
preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kathy Sue Sheridan.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Ninth Street Chapel, Manitowoc, from
4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday where a prayer service will be conducted at 8 p.m.
