Earl H. “Sonny” Mueller, age 78, 304 Union Place, Manitowoc, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was called home by the Lord, Sunday evening, Dec. 10, 2006, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers, after a heroic battle with lung cancer.
He was born on Dec. 2, 1928, in Manitowoc County, the only child of the late Earl A. and Hilda (Schmidt) Mueller. Earl graduated from Lincoln High School, class of 1947. On April 15, 1950, he married the former Barbara Koch at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. He was employed at the Manitowoc Company for 42 years, retiring in 1987. He then was self employed as a house painter until his illness in July. He was a member of the Billy Schultz Circus and the Raccoon Club. Earl loved life, his work, and most of all, his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a proud man, loved and relied on the Lord. He also loved people and animals of all kinds.
Survivors include his wife: Barbara, Manitowoc; 12 children; and 28 grandchildren: Catherine (Greg) Sorge, Manitowoc, and their children: Shannon, Jason and Ryan; Laurie (Jeffrey) Haver, Manitowoc, and their children: Cherie and Jeff; Steven (Debbie), Goshen, Ind., and their child: Erin; Daniel (Peggy), Goshen, Ind., and their children: Gregory, Kari and Holly; William J. Manitowoc, and his children: Jeremy and Sarah; Susan (Kevin) Johnson, Appleton, and their children: Shanna, Austin and Stacey; Jeffrey (Bonnie) Mueller, Manitowoc, and their children: Joshua, Jesica and Amber; Anthony (Wanda) Mueller, Manitowoc, and their children: Elias and Ross; Mary Schreiner, Manitowoc, and her children: Becky, Brooke and Zachary; Earl R. Mueller, Manitowoc, and his children: Amy and Laura; Paul (Shelley) Mueller, St. Nazianz, and their children: Adam and Haley; Jodi Mueller-Krouse, Manitowoc, and her children: Courtney and Cameron; and 19 great-grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by a son: John; a grandson; Michael Sorge; and also in-laws: Mark Koch, Orvil Marquardt and Gloria Koch.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Paul Demuth. Cremation will occur after the service.
The family will great relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006. Friends may also call Thursday morning at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m.
