LAVERNE OELKE

LaVerne C. Oelke, age 73, of 8108 Northeim Road, Newton, died Monday, June 1, 2009 at St Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. She was born Oct. 1, 1935 in Kellnersville, daughter of the late Victor and Mary (Jerabek) Hynek. LaVerne attended Holy Innocents Grade School and Vocational School. On May 7, 1955 she married Norman Oelke at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. LaVerne started her employed with Tinsel Manufacturing Company and then became a lab assistant at Memorial Hospital for 17 years. She ended her career with Aitkin Reed as an inspector.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Norm Oelke, Manitowoc; three daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy Oelke, Manitowoc, Vicki and Terry Niemi, Newton and Dianne Oelke, Sheboygan; a son, Tom Oelke, Pewaukee; seven grandchildren, Cory (LeeAnn), Jaime (fiancé Mike), Justin, Crystal, Noel (Tim), Winter and Heath; 11 great grandchildren: Brandy, Victor, Eli, Mariah, Josephine, Emmit, Alyssa, Ayva, Haylee, Bryona and Kyler; one brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Sue Hynek, Shoto; and two brothers-in-law, Dick (Dee) Oelke, Florida and Darwin (Mary) Oelke, Manitowoc. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, LeeRae, Heidi, Tammy, Chris, Dawn, Carrie, Randy and Brian; lifelong friends, Jane Wanden, Two Rivers and Chris Hare, England; the family dog, Rambler; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by their dog, Tasha.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, June 6, 2009 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton. Cremation has taken place. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc from 9 am Saturday, June 6, 2009 until the time of service at 10:30 am.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the whole nursing staff and doctors at St. Vincent Hospital, especially the ICU on fourth floor. The Pfeffer Funeral Home and All Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
