ROGER L. OLSON (d. 2009)

Roger L. Olson, age 83, a resident of 4105 Delta Street, Manitowoc entered
eternal life on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Aurora Medical Center in Two
Rivers.
Roger was born on in Hixton, WI to the late Oscar and Hazel Drier Olson. He
attended schools at Hixton and then moved to Waterford, WI and graduated from
Waterford High School with the class of 1944. After graduation, he left for
the United States Army and served until his honorable discharge in 1946. Roger
then farmed with his brother Richard before leaving to attend college at
Milwaukee School of Engineering. He was confirmed at the Norway Lutheran Church
in Wind Lake, WI and on September 15, 1956 he married Arlene M. Fleming at St.
Johns Lutheran Church in Burlington. They made their home in Burlington and then
later moved to Milwaukee. In 1960, they moved to Manitowoc with their two sons.
Roger was employed with Rex Chain Belt and later became the owner and operator
of Manitowoc Tractor Sales. He then went on to work at Lakeside Foods until his
retirement in 1995. Roger was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church,
the Manitowoc Senior Center, Manitowoc County Historical Society, and AMVETS Post
99. Roger enjoyed spending his time woodworking, repairing things, and spending
time with his family and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law:
Howard and Helen Fleming; one brother-in-law: Richard Fleming; one sister-in-law
and brother-in-law: Jeanette and Phil Weiler; and one nephew: Timothy Weiler.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Bethany
Evangelical Lutheran Church from 9 am until the time of the funeral service at
11 am. Rev. Robert Kujawski and Rev. Stephen Melso will officiate with burial to
follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by AMVET Post 99.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is
assisting the family with funeral arrangement.
The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Drs.(private),
the 3rd floor West nurses and aids of Aurora Medical Center, and to all of the
staff at Aurora's Cancer Care Center, VNA Hospice, and River's Bend Health and
Rehabilitation Center.
