Eleanor Peterik, age 95, of St. Francis Home, Fond du Lac, and formerly of
Manitowoc, passed away on Monday May 10, 2010, in Fond du Lac.
Eleanor was born Nov. 13, 1914, in the town of Melnik to Julia (Rezba) and
Edward Maly. She attended grade school in the town of Melnik and high School
in Mishicot, graduating in 1931. She received her teaching degree in 1959,
from the Manitowoc County Teachers College and a bachelor's degree in elementary
education from the former Holy Family College in 1965.
Eleanor taught in the rural, one-room Larrabee School and the Mishicot Elementary
schools, retiring in 1977. Eleanor was a member of the Manitowoc county Retired
Teachers Association. She enjoyed outings to her family's land along the West Twin
River and trips to Door County and Horicon Marsh. A favorite memory of Eleanor's
was holding a small Saw Whet Owl at Woodland Dunes.
Eleanor is survived by her children (Survivors omitted for privacy.)
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2010, at St. Francis of
Assisi on Waldo. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev.
Richard Klingeisen. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo on
Friday, May 14, 2010, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc is serving the family.
