Funeral services for Mrs. Lester A. Pew, 68, of 1121 Windiate St., Manitowoc,
who died Sunday afternoon at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, of injuries
received in an auto accident when she and her husband, a retired Manitowoc
school teacher, were enroute to Racine after attending a reunion of Mrs. Pew’s
graduating class from Fond du Lac High School, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at
St. Paul Methodist Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Krist Caune will officiate and
burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Pew, the former Rubie Howard, was born Nov. 15, 1898, in the Town of Byron,
Fond du Lac, County, daughter of the late Carl and Myrtle Weber Howard.
She was a graduate of Fond du Lac High School in 1917, and from Oshkosh Normal
in 1919 and taught in Manitowoc schools before her marriage to Mr. Pew at Fond
du Lac Aug. 3, 1926. The couple lived at Fond du Lac one year and at Whitewater
before locating at Manitowoc.
Survivors include the husband, who remains in critical condition in St. Agnes
Hospital; two daughters, Mrs. Jay (Joyce) Soley and Mrs. Wesley (Lorna Mae)
Champion, of Racine; a sister, Mrs. H. A. Ladewig, of Fond du Lac, and four
grandchildren.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc after 3 p.m.
Wednesday at the church from Thursday noon until time of service.
