Edward Klaus Hinrichs, the son of Renetius Klausen and Sophia (Stamer) Hinrichs, was born in Adams County, Nebraska on August 26, 1912 and died in Hastings, Nebraska on June 26, 2001, at the age of 88 years.

Edward grew up in Adams County Nebraska, where he attended District 17 Country School.

Edward was united in marriage to Zelma L. Wallace on June 6, 1943 at First Baptist Church in Hastings. He farmed all his life. They started farming east of Hastings until 1949, then moved to a farm southeast of Giltner where they resided until September 30, 2000, at that time they moved to their present residence in Hastings.

He was a member of Eagles F.O.E. 592 in Hastings. Edward was active in the Church and served on several church boards. He enjoyed nature and animals. Edward liked bus tours, auctions and visiting. "No person was a stranger. He was a neighbor ready with a helping hand."

Edward was preceded in death by his parents and son, Wayne.

Edward is survived by his wife, Zelma of Hastings; two sons, Stanley and his wife Patricia of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Jim and his wife Barbara of Hastings; three daughters, Kae Miller and her husband Royal of Hastings, Marjorie Crawford and her husband Richard of Phillips and Mary Crawford and her husband Jack of Phillips; one brother, Paul Hinrichs of Hastings; six sisters, Alice Gordon, Nellie Wright, Irma Hunt, Jerry Petersen all of Hastings, Hilda Burke of Central City and Lorraine Quirk of Lincoln; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.
