HERMAN W. ROEPKE (d. 1981)

Herman W. Roepke, 68, of 1310 S. 32nd St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday afternoon,
September 23, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First German Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Arno Wolfgramm will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Roepke was born April 27, 1913, in the Town of Newton, Manitowoc County, son
of Erna Kieselhorst Roepke and the late Edwin Roepke. He grew up and was educated
in the Town of Newton and served with the United States Army during World War II.
He married Arlen Skubal Sept. 25, 1943, at St. John Lutheran Church, Newtonburg,
moving to Manitowoc in 1944, residing here since. He had been employed with
Manitowoc County Highway Department 28 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member
of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne and Ronald and a daughter, Marilyn; his mother,
Erna W. Roepke; two brothers, Edwin and John; four sisters, Miss Laurine Roepke,
Mrs. Henry (Marguerite) Herzog, Mrs. Leonard (Deloris) Schuh and Miss Erna Roepke
and three grandchildren, Belinda, Jeffrey and Cheryl all of Manitowoc, A sister,
Dorothy Czekala, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday and at the church from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of service.
