W.F. Schnorr Is Dead at 76
William F. Schnorr, 76, of 1201 N. Ninth St., retired businessman, died
Thursday at Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Mr. Schnorr was born Aug. 25, 1868, at Manitowoc, son of the late John and
Charlotte Scharz Schnorr. He attended local elementary schools and was
graduated from Central High School in 1906. He started to work for Schnorr
Bros. Box factory after his graduation and became a partner in the business
in 1913 and was owner-manager from 1929.
He was co-founder of the Heresite Chemical Co. and still served on the board
of directors. Mr. Schnorr was a member of First Presbyterian Church and
served as church elder and was an alderman from the First Ward.
He was a member of Manitowoc Lodge No. 65, F and AM, Manitowoc Chapter No.
16, RAM, Manitowoc Commandery No. 45, KT, Manitowoc Council No. 18, R and
SM, Tripoli Temple, Milwaukee, and Manitowoc Elks, Lodge No. 687.
He married Gretchen Marguerite Konop Sept. 3, 1918, at Manitowoc. She
survives with a son, William Jr., and a sister, Mrs. Hary Ginzl, of Manitowoc.
A brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Phipps Memorial Chapel of
First Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Gervase Zanotti officiating. Burial will
be in Evergreen cemetery.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home this Friday evening until
11 a.m. Saturday and then at the chapel. Memorials have been established for
First Presbyterian Church and Memorial Hospital.
