Joyce A. Schroeder, age 59, of 1117 S. 14th St., Manitowoc, died Sunday morning, July 31, 2005, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Joyce was born on Aug. 11, 1945 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Anthony and Julia Desonia Welnetz. She graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, with the class of 1963. Joyce worked at various factories around the area. In 1980, she started employment at the Dick Bros. Thrift Store, which later became the Sara Lee Store. She was a clerk and manager for 24 years until they closed in 2004. Joyce married Richard A. Schroeder on Feb. 24, 1968. They have two wonderful children and grandchildren. Joyce loved her family dearly and cherished her grandchildren. Joyce volunteered her spare time at the senior center lunch program and at Jefferson School helping children to read. She was a member of American Legion Post 88 Auxiliary and VFW Post 659 Auxiliary. Joyce is survived by her husband: Richard; one daughter and son-in-law: Susan and Dave VanDrisse, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law: Michael and Lisa Schroeder, Manitowoc; two grandchildren: Ashley Marie and Cameron Michael Schroeder; three brothers: Robert and Ruth Welnetz, Manitowoc; James and Beverly Welnetz, Francis Creek; Donald and Barbara Welnetz, Lake Tahoe, Calif.; two brothers-in-law: James (Lois) Schroeder, Manitowoc; Paul Schroeder, Sturgeon Bay; one sister-in-law: Sharon (Paul) Zipperer, Kewaunee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Tom Wojciechowski O.F.M. with burial of the cremated remains to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends for a memorial visitation at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005. The visitation will continue at church on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
