George Stallman was born in Marshfield, Wood county, Wisconsin on 28 Sep 1888 to Fredericka (nee Moser) and George Stallman. His siblings included Peter (1884-1947), John (1885-1929), and Frieda (1890-1902).

When he was only one year old his father died in a saw mill accident. In 1892 his mother remarried the divorcee Charles Lutz and George gained the half-siblings: Edwin, Amalia Molly, Lottie, William, Leo, Herber, Elroy/Roy, Dorothy, and Irwin.

Sometime before 1919 George married Margaret Glun. They had two children: Alvina in 1919 and an infant who died at birth in 1921. Alvina was placed in the Bethesda Lutheran Home for the Feeble Minded, where she died in 1934.

George worked at various positions, woods work in the north woods, in saw mills, as a laborer, in business, and as a mail messenger. He died in 1925. His obituaries were published in early January 1925:

The Post Crescent, 5 Jan 1925, Monday, page 1:

Manitowoc: George Stallman, 36, mail messenger between the local postoffice and the railway depots, committed suicide Saturday night by shooting himself through the heart with the government 45 calibre revolver which he carried on the job. His body was found late Sunday afternoon No inquest will be held. Stallman had been served Saturday morning with papers in a divorce suit filed by his wife. He leaves a wife, a mother, a brother, and a sister.

The Sheboygan Press, 6 Jan 1925, Tuesday, page 5:
Shoots Self After Papers are Served
George Stallman, who ended his life by shooting himself through the heart in Manitowoc last Sunday, committed the act shortly after he had been served with divorce papers by his wife on the Saturday preceding.

He telephoned his mother-in-law, Mrs Augusta Glun, telling her "I am going to make away with myself."

Two little girls discovered his body lying in a wood yard and told people who reported it to the police.

The Sheboygan Press, 5 Jan 1925, Monday, page 11:
Despondent Over Matrimony, Kills Himself Sunday

Despondent over matrimonial troubles which had been harassing him for several years, George Stallman, 35, brother of Mrs William Epell [Ettle], 1236 Michigan Avenue, committed suicide by shooting himself through the heart at his home in Manitowoc Sunday.

Sheboygan police were notified of the tragedy by Manitowoc authorities and told to communicate the sad news to Mrs Eppel.

Mr Stallman never lived in Sheboygan. He was born in Marshfield, and had lived in Manitowoc for several years. His parents both live in Marshfield. Mrs Eppel of this city is his half sister.

Mrs Eppel did not go to Manitowoc, as she had not been informed as to when the funeral would be held She knew nothing of the details of the shooting, she said, except that her half-brother had been having constant troubles with his wife.

She was unable to say whether Mr Stallman was facing a suit for divorce, as was reported here, bu said that more than likely a suit was pending. She declared that there were frequent family disturbances in the Stallman home.
