Mrs. Sabina Hodas Stefanik, 81, who lived with her daughter, Mrs. Ann Keefe,
of 616A Buffalo St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday at Holy Family Hospital,
Manitowoc, after a nine week illness.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home
and at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc, the Rev. Claude
LeClair officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Stefanik, nee Sabina Porubcansky, was born Aug. 29, 1885, at Silina,
Czechoslovakia, and was married there to George Hodas in 1900. The couple
emigrated to Manitowoc in 1906 and he died in 1919. In 1920 she was married
to Casimir Stefanik. He died in 1935. Mrs. Stefanik was a 50 year member of
the ZCBJ lodge.
Surviving are a son, George of Manitowoc; six daughters, Mrs. Harry (Josephine)
Schipper, Mrs. Ann Keefe and Mrs. Edwin (Rose) Loritz of Manitowoc, Mrs. Eugene
(Katherine) Nelson of Crandon. Mrs. Raymond (Sabina) Chizek of Mishicot and Mrs.
Alois (Evelyn) Ashenbrenner of Whitelaw; a brother, Philip of Francis Creek, 13
grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Two sons, a daughter, three brothers
and two sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home where the Rosary will be recited at 3
o’clock this Thursday evening.
