Elmon was the son of David and Susan Jannette Reeder Jones. He never married. According to a nephew, Elmon had a girl friend that he was crazy about and was planning to marry her when she ran off with another guy.
After his lady fair ran off with the other man Elmon put his buggy in the haymow and never got it out again. He never had anything to do with girls again either.
Birth year on the gravestone is 1883 and on the funeral records is 1882.

ELMON JONES
Elmon D. Jones, 76, Mapleton died Sunday morning at 1:20 in the state hospital, Osawatomie. He had been a resident of the Mapleton community most of his life.
The deceased was the son of David and Susan Jones, pioneer residents of the Mapleton and Blue Mound communities. He was born, March 2, 1882. He was a member of the Poplar Grove Holiness church.
Surviving are a brother Fred M. Jones, Mapleton; and a sister, Mrs. Minnie Officer, Monroe, Wash.; several nephews and nieces, among them, Marvin of Fort Scott, Floyd of Mapleton, and Carme of Uniontown.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is at the Konantz Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Elmon D. Jones, 76, Mapleton, will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Konantz Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Ray I. Kimbrough. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
