Clarence J. (Jake) Zmeskal, 67, of 608 Huron St., Manitowoc, a native of Chicago, died
Tuesday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc of an apparent heart attack. He was stricken
a short time earlier while mowing lawn at home.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Schneider-Mittnacht Funeral
Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. William Zimmer will officiate with burial in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Zmeskal was born Dec. 28, 1909, son of the late Joseph and Mary Kliment Zmeskal. He moved
to Manitowoc as a child with his family and was graduated from Lincoln High School
in 1929. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and married Rita Kunz June 2,
1945, at Sacred Heart Parsonage. Mr. Zmeskal had been employed at Manitowoc
Shipbuilding Inc. as a materials expediter retiring two years ago. He was president of
Manitowoc Northside Athletic Club, a group of former Lincoln High School athletes of the
1920s.
Survivors include his wife, a son, John, at home, a daughter, Mary, of Milwaukee, a brother,
Joseph, of Manitowoc and two sisters, Mrs. Leonard (Helen) Strzyewski and Mrs. Betty Hanson,
of Manitowoc.
Friends may call at Schneider-Mittnacht Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday,
where a prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m.
