GILMER - Services for Charles H. Steele, 80, of Jefferson, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel, with Mr. Grandall Forehand officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park
of Gilmer.

Mr. Steele passed away on Monday, April 30, 2007, in Longview.

He was born March 17, 1927, in Upshur County, to Asa Franklin Steele and Margaret Melissa Loftis Steele. Mr. Steele served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Lone Star Steel as a crane operator.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Nell Cahill.

Mr. Steele is survived by his wife, Ernestina Jovita Steele of Jefferson; daughter, Debbie Edlin of Houston; stepdaughter, Shirley and Skip Lynch of Longview; stepdaughter, Janet Jones of Honduras; son-in-law, John
Cahill of Houston; stepson and wife, Steve and Blanca Jones of Honduras; stepson and wife, Alfred and Carmen Jones of Honduras; brothers and sister-in-law, Tommy Steele of Gilmer and James and Bernice Steele of
Irving; sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace and Bybee Wiesinger of Gilmer, Bonnie and C.W. Fleming of Gilmer and Mary Jo Thompson of Fort Worth; four grandchildren, Amber Cahill, John Bryan Cahill, Jessica Edlin and Josh Edlin; 12 step grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John Bryan Cahill, Josh Edlin, Jim Jones, Tom Steele, David Wiesinger and Brandon Wiesinger.

Honorary pallbearers will be William Pate and Larry Pope.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening, May 4, 2007, at the funeral home.
