Tattnall County Man Hangs Self In Tattnall County Jail Last Friday

Sheriff Romie Waters informed The Journal that Remer Anderson of Reidsville took his life by hanging himself in the Tattnall County jail here last Friday.
Sheriff Waters stated that Anderson was placed in the jail last Wednesday for public drunkenness. He was observed around 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 29, and was apparently in good physical and mental condition.
Deputy Bill Wingate returned to the jail at 1:00 p.m. to give Anderson his dinner and found him dead.
Examination was made by Dr. L.R. Jelks and a Coroner's inquest was conducted by Coroner Robert Rushing.
He was the son of Grady Anderson and the late Katie Sneed of Reidsville.
Survivors are his father; a brother, Walter Anderson of Reidsville, and a sister, Mrs. Ollie Mae Brazell of Manassas.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Stoney Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Marcus Rushing officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jerry Brazell, Willie Anderson, Leroy Anderson, Ronnie Weitman, George Denkins and Zetty Denkins.
McCall-Trapnell Funeral Home was in charge.
