Obituary of Mary Lou Adams Lee

Mary Lou Adams Lee, 88, died Saturday Nov. 22 in Kissimmee, Florida.

The visitation will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25 and the funeral service will be at 11 a.m. the same day at Pasley-Flectcher Funeral Home. The burial will be Southview Cemetery. Rev. John Barnes will officiate. Mrs. Lee was born January 19, 1920 in Zebulon, Georgia to Frank Lester Adams and Janie Octavia Pound Adams. She was preceded in death by her husband Linton F. Lee, a pioneer in the motel industry in the 1940's; by both her brothers, Frank Lester Adams, Jr. and Charles Lee Adams and by one grandson, John Flournoy II.

Mrs. Lee graduated from North Georgia College in 1938 and Tift College in 1967. She taught school in Thomaston from the age of 18, starting in a one-room schoolhouse in East Thomaston. She was a Girl Scout troop leader, a founding member of the Upson County Hospital Auxiliary and she taught Sunday School classes at the First United Methodist Church of Thomaston.

She is survived by her son, Charles Adams Lee and daughter-in-law Dorothy Lee, her daughter Brownie Chapman and son-in-law Richard Chapman; her grandchildren Elisabeth Flournoy, Julie Hazboun, Joseph Lee, and Anna Freeman, and her great-grandchildren, Scott Littleton and Garret Hazboun.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Girl Scouts of America.
