Corporal Charles B. Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Allen of Wadesboro, was instantly killed in an automobile accident in Long Beach, Cal., Saturday afternoon.
The body will be carried to Wadesboro where funeral services will be held some time toward the last of the week.
His father, R. W. Allen, was formerly superintendent of the Monroe city schools and his wife, Mrs. Helen B. Allen, as area supervisor of the WPA Defense Recreation Program recently spent several months in Monroe, leaving here on December 4th to join her husband at Chanute Field, Ill. She has many friends here who will learn with regret of this unfortunate accident.
