Jerry was the fourth child born to Dr. Henry Jackson Henderson and Nancy O McMackin. He was a jailer for the Ben Ficklin Jail in Tom Green Co., Texas before the then county seat was washed away in the Ben Ficklin flood in the 1880's.
He later became the County's Tax Accessor and Collector when the town of Santa Angela became the couty seat after the flood.
He and his brother Augustus Gaugh Henderson raised sheep on a ranch "10 miles this side of Sterling City. Family tradition has it the ranch was on what is now Arden Road.
Between 1880-1900 He was a Jailer, County Tax Accessor, and rancher.
