COLCHESTER & VOLUNTOWN- Gertrude "Gertie" Rogers Lindell, 92, formerly of Colchester and Voluntown, passed away in Andersonville, Tennessee on February 17, 2007. She was born on Dec. 11, 1914 in Plainfield, CT, daughter of Clifford C. and Jessie Preston Bates Squires. She was a Nurse and her last employment was with the former Norwich Hospital before retirement. Gertie was a graduate of Plainfield High class of 1933, member of the First Congregational Church in Griswold, was a very outgoing person, loved gardening, was a lifelong member of the Colchester Grange and the Pachaug Grange, where she was past Chaplin. She was first married to Howard A. Rogers. Later on, she was married to Harold Lindell. They both predeceased her.
Surviving are three sons, numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a daughter Gertrude Brady and a brother Wilard Squires.
Funeral Service will be held on March 3, 2007, Saturday, 10 am at the First Congregational Church in Griswold with Rev. Lou Harper officiating. Burial to follow in Linwood Cemetery, Colchester. Visitation will be held on March 2, 2007, Friday from 4 to 6 pm at the Belmont Funeral Home, 144 South Main St., Colchester. Coutesty of the Norwich Bulletin
