He was born November 5, 1921 in Patrick County, VA, son of the late Edgar Charlie & Ada Lillian Hartman Rogers. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Vadie Vipperman Rogers; a brother, Olee Rogers; and three sisters, Virginia Francis, Beatrice Rogers & Virleane Tilley.
He earned a Bronze Star while serving in the Army in World War II. He was a member of Slate Mountain Baptist Church and was retired from J.P. Stevens Inc.
Surviving are two daughters, Wilma Heath of Claudville and Dianna White of Pilot Mountain, NC; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart, VA, with the Rev. Barry Clement and the Rev. Rickey Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
