Florence Carolyn Hedges Achord, 88, of Coffeyville, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012 at Windsor Place Nursing Home after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Florence was born June 24, 1924 at Ft. Scott, Kansas, to Alfred and Anna Hedges.

She grew up and attended school in Hepler, KS, graduating in 1942.

Following graduation, she owned and operated her own restaurant for several years.

She married Les Achord and had two daughters, Terry and Lisa. In 1957, the family moved to Coffeyville.

Florence was a devoted homemaker and avid gardener, who was beloved by many for her always positive and cheerful demeanor, until the very end.

Survivors include two daughters, Terry (David) Maynard of Reston, VA, Lisa (Larry) Funk of Coffeyville, KS; three grandchildren, Jeff (Katie) Branch of Alexandria, VA, Melissa (Roger) Roehr of Reston, VA and Danny Funk of Coffeyville, KS; three greatgrand children, Mackenzie and Jack Branch and Lauren Roehr; one sister, Ruth Anderson of Overbrook, KS and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Alfred Hedges, two brothers Don and Clarence Hedges and an infant granddaughter.

Thanks to all of the special caregivers at Windsor Place for the love and support shown. Florence was so appreciative of all you did for her throughout the last three years, as is her family.
