James R. was the son of Allen Crowder and Phoebe Grigg. He married M. Biddie Beam. He was a lay leader of the Sandy Run Baptist Church in Mooresboro, NC and several other churches in Rutherford and Cleveland counties. He died when he was only 32 years of age.
