Joy Nelsen Fritsch of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away January 10, 2001, from complications of cancer.

Joy was born December 11, 1950 in Brigham City, Utah, the daughter of Daniel Clarence Nelsen and Aldine Clara Anderson. She graduated from Bear River High School and Brigham Young University. She married Wallace Carl Fritsch on August 10, 1977 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Joy worked at LDS Hospital for over twenty-six years as a registered nurse. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities, but especially enjoyed teaching. She loved family and friends, music, reading and learning.

She is survived by her husband, Wally; six siblings: Marilyn (Walter) Pase, Las Cruses, NM; Richard (MaryLynn) Nelsen, Richmond, UT; Brent (Karen) Nelsen, Derby, KS; Kenneth (Susan) Nelsen, Idaho Falls, ID; Lucy (Jerry) Maughan, Nibley, UT; Michelle Nelsen, Logan, UT; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Vernald William Johns.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 15, 2001 at 12 noon at the Ensign Peak Ward Chapel, 125 E. North Sandrun Road in Salt Lake City. Friends may call Sunday evening, January 14th , from 6 to 8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City and Monday, one hour prior to services at the ward. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
