Samuel J. Martin enlisted as a private in 1864 for the Union army in PA in company B, 210th Infantry Regiment. Mustered out Company B, 210th Infantry Regiment PA on 30th May 1965 at Washington DC. By the end of the war he held the rank of Quartermaster Sergeant. Battles fought- Hatcher's Run VA February 6, 1865, Dabney's Mills VA February 6, 1865, Gravelly Run VA March 25-31, 1865, Five Forks VA April 1, 1865. He lost part of his index, middle, and ring finger on his left hand in the war. He is buried in Dayton National Cemetery, Ohio, moved from Hollenback Cemetery PA. Location of his grave is in DNC, Ohio in section 1, row 11, grave #56.
