Mary Blake, daughter of Christopher Blake, was first married to James Craig. They settled on the banks of the Becaguimec River, upstream from the sister of James, Mary Craig, who was married to William Orser. After the disappearance of James Craig and death of Mary Craig Orser, widow Mary Anna "Polly" married widower William Orser, joining their two families. They added six more children to their combined family.
