AMELIA KATE SUIKER BOEKE
Was born August 21, 1868, near Lancaster, Grant county, Wis., and died in Lincoln June 6 [sic], 1941. She was the daughter of John George and Anna Mary Feirck Suiker. Her mother who was born in Pittsburg, Pa., died May 28, 1911, at the age of 67. Her father who was born in Germany died at the early age of 45 [sic].
When Mrs. Boeke was 3 years old her family moved to Dubuque, Iowa, where she spent her childhood and youth. At the age of 26 she came to Hickman, Neb., where she worked for a time in her brother's store. She was married May 28, 1895, to Richard Boeke. The young couple made their home on a farm until a few years ago when they retired to live in Hickman. Mrs. Boeke became a member of the First Presbyterion church of Dubuque, in her girlhood, later transfering to the Hickman church. She was a faithful member until her health no longer allowed attendance at services. Her first interest was her home and family, to which she devoted her faithful care while health permit'd.
Mrs. Boeke was preceded in death by her husband, who died on Feb'y 3 of this year. She is survived by two daughters; Mrs. Evelyn Kunz of Beloit, Wis., and Miss Amelia Boeke of Lincoln; 2 sisters, Mrs. Anna Halstead of Beloit, and Mrs. Louise Boeke of Lincoln; two brothers, John G. Suiker of Dubuque, Ia., and Henry B. Suiker of Eugene, Oregon.
Services were held Tuesday in charge of Rev. J.H. Thaden, at the Hickman Presbyterian church and interment made in Hickman cemetery.
