Our family's angel has been called home.

Born April 4, 1918 in Wyandotte, MI to Bronislaus and Stephanie Loszewski, Anna passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012 at the age of 94.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew; brothers, John and Joseph; "son", Stephan; sisters, Irene and Genevieve; sisters-in-law, Wanda (Harold) Abent, Bobbie and Agnes; brother-in-law, Ed Smrek; nephew, Rick and grand-dog, Boudreaux. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Bill) Hunter; grandsons, William and Matthew; brother, Henry Loszewski; sister-in-law, Rita Smrek; "daughter-in-law" Sandy Loszewski, "grandchildren", Greg (Kristi) Loszewski and Pam (David) Smith, "great-grandchildren", Stephen, Devin, Logan, Amanda and Andrew and many nieces and nephews.

She moved to Lansing after graduating from Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School in Wyandotte to work at the Michigan Liquor Commission. Later, she would work at the Lansing Board of Water and Light, retiring in 1978.

She was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church where she was active in the Guild. She belonged to Polish Falcons Nest 652 for 66 years, where she was active in the kitchen committee and served in various officer positions. Anna was awarded the Gold Legion of Honor in 2000. An avid league bowler, she played for decades until her knees gave out. For many years, summertime meant weekends at the cottage at Lake St. Helen with lots of family and friends. Her ceramic paint club gave vent to her artistic expression and camaraderie with her sisters-in-law and other friends. She enjoyed the Southbrook Hills subdivision monthly neighborhood ladies luncheons. She looked forward to her weekly trip to Diane, her hairdresser.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 20, 2012 at St. Casimir Catholic Church, 815 Sparrow Ave., Lansing with Rev. Fr. Bill Lugger as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Palmer, Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel. A rosary will be prayed Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Stephen Loszewski Benefit Fund (to help defray expenses in his fight with leukemia), St. Casimir Catholic Church or Polish Falcons Nest 652. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Friends may sign the online guestbook at www.palmerbush.com.

A natural leader, she played her role as family matriarch well: never tolerating misbehavior while doling out lots of love.
