Former resident of Chester,Barbara B. Hoopes, 56, of the Brandywine Hundred section of Wilmington, Del., a homemaker and native of Chester, died Jan. 2 at home.

Born and reared in Chester, Mrs. Hoopes attended Chester High School and graduated from Nether Providence High School. She lived in the Delaware County area until she married in 1961 and moved to Delaware. She was a homemaker devoted to her family.
Surviving are her husband of 36 years, William M. Hoopes; four sons, William M. Hoopes Jr. of West Grove, Pa., Michael H. Hoopes of Aston, Andrew B. Hoopes and Matthew M. Hoopes, both of Wilmington, Del.; her mother and stepfather, Catherine and Michael Shank of Wallingford; a brother, Michael Shank of Wallingford; a sister, Jeannie Moore of Upper Providence; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, Del. Burial is in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Lower Chichester. Calling is from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
