"Dockstader brothers, Nicholas, Richard, and Butler were of Dutch ancestry, and born in Albnay N.Y. They were the sons of Jacob and Angelica Hanson Dockstader. Nicholas Dockstader was born in 1802 and came to Cleveland when he was 24 years of age. He started a small hat and cap store, and his stand was at No. 13 Superior street. He also dealt in furs. He was mayor of the city in 1840, retired from business in 1858, and died in 1871 age 69 years. Nicholas Dockstader married Miss Harriet Judd a sister of Mrs. T. P. May.
