Born in 1921 in the Mulberry Avenue home where he lived, he had been a Patterson area resident for most of his life. He graduated from Patterson High School in class of 1940 arid last summer attended the 60th anniversary reunion of the class. In 1946 He went into the dairy business on the other side of the river and moved his family to the Modesto area. They returned here in 1959. For the past 41 years he was a self-employed tile contractor.
He also attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a past member of the Elks Lodge in Modesto. He enjoyed the out of doors, especially fishing and hunting. He also was a supporter of local Portuguese activities.
Mass is Saturday: A vigil service will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Hillview Funeral Chapel in Patterson. A Mass at Sacred Heart Church is scheduled for 9 am. Saturday, with burial in Patterson District Cemetery to follow.
Visitation at the chapel will be Friday from 5-7 p.m.
Survivors include a son, Stanley Relvas of Patterson: a daughter, Jacqulyn LeMaux of Ione; one grandchild; a brother Joe Relvas of Modesto, and a sister, Isabell Silva of Santa Cruz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline, in 1990.
