Mildred "Milly" Allene Boggs, 100, of Pittsburg, passed away at 12:07 p.m., Friday, August 17, 2012, at the Vintage Place, Pittsburg. She was born June 12, 1912, at rural Liberal, MO, the daughter of Allen and Minerva Jane "Jenny" (Hollingsworth) McKay. She attended local schools and graduated from Mulberry High School in 1931. On May 13, 1936, at Liberal, MO, she was united in marriage to Fred C. Boggs. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1997.

Mrs. Boggs was a homemaker. Her entire life she was a nurturing and caring mother for her family. Mrs. Boggs was always the first on the scene when there was a need. She loved gardening and especially flowers. She was a beautiful and accomplished seamstress.

Mrs. Boggs was a charter member of the 20th Century Sunday School Class of the First Christian Church, now known as the 21st Century Class, faithful member of the First Christian Church, Pittsburg and was also a member of the Pleasant Prairie Extension Unit. She was involved in Girl Scouting, HDU activities and the senior citizens organization.

She is survived by one son, John A. Boggs and his wife, Frances of Pleasant View, TN, two daughters, Janice K. Klein and her husband, Robert of Plevna, KS, and Marilynn R. Toomey and her husband, Terry of Holton, KS, seven grandchildren, Steve Boggs, Mark Boggs, Kay Baldwin, Janet Thornburg, Michael Klein, Greg Toomey and Julie Toomey and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, one sister, one grandchild and one great-grandchild. She loved the caregivers at Vintage Place, where she spent the last years of her life. They attended to her with loving care.

A service for Mrs. Boggs is set for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Pittsburg. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home to sign the register book after 10:00 a.m., Tuesday.

The family suggests memorials to Southern Care Hospice and/or Vintage Place. These may be left at or sent to Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS.
