A native of Coffee County, he was the son of the late Nathan and Reta Bump Jones. He was a retired laborer, a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Manchester and a World War II Army veteran.
Services with military honors were Saturday morning in the Manchester Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Taylor officiating. Burial was in the City Cemetery in Manchester, TN.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Smith Jones of Manchester. Two step daughters, Jean Green of Manchester and Mary F. Farrar of Mesa, Arizona. A step son, Franklin Qualls of Manchester. Two brothers, Maurice Jones and Leon Jones, both of Manchester. Three sisters, Ezelle Philpot, Vannie Norton, and Sadie Phipps, all of Manchester. Eight step grandchildren, nine step great great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
