Indian Campaigns Medal of Honor Recipient. He was buried under the name of William Phillipsen. He served as a Blacksmith in the United States Army in Troop D, 5th U.S. Cavalry. We was awarded the CMOH for action on September 29, 1879 at Milk Creek, Colorado. His citation reads "With nine others voluntarily attacked and captured a stron position held by Indians."
