He was born April 18, 1925, at Eldridge, Mo. to Charles and Della Mae Mc-Guire Childers.
On Nov. 9, 1946, he married Reona Williams, who preceded him in death.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Buel, Hays, Euin and John, and four sisters, Syble, Florene, Alma and Dorothy.
He was a farmer.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Lamberty and her husband, Gary, of Independence, and Mary Counts and her husband, David, of Lebanon; a sister, Viva Jean Ray, of Lebanon; five grandchildren, Lori Malcom, of Lee's Summit; Marta McMillin, of Lake Ozark; Stephen Lamberty, of Phoenix, Ariz.; Gretta Patten, of Lebanon; and Karen Calhoun, of Lebanon; eight great-grandchildren, a very dear friend, Mary June Riggs, and other relatives.
Graveside services and burial for Herb Childers will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2012, in the Hufft Cemetery near Eldridge with the Rev. Charles Waterman officiating, under the direction of Shadel's Colonial Chapel of Lebanon
