After her husband's death in 1901, Mary lived with her daughter's, Mary, family from at least 1910 till she died of chronic nephritis on September 6, 1921. Nephritis is an inflammation of the kidney and is also known as Bright's Disease. She was buried in the Mount Salem Cemetery, at 1709 Mt. Salem Lane, in Wilmington.
