Jacob was the oldest of five children born to Jacob and Matilda Davis Dietrich.The spelling of the family name changed over the years and went from Dietrich, Dietrick to Detrick. He had two younger brothers Joseph and Tobias and two younger sisters, Leah and Sarah( Sallie)
They grew up on a farm in Safe Harbor ,Lancaster Co.
He married Rebecca Krebs also from Lancaster,Co and they had three children; Harry, Eliza and Luella. By 1880,the family moved to Schuylkill Co where he worked at a mill By 1900,Jacob.his wife Rebecca and daughter Eliza , son in law Walter Leek were living in Philadelphia where Jacob was employed as a clerk.
He died in 1912.He was seventy four years old.
