Geraldine McCarty 1920 - 2012 Geraldine Dorothy McCarty, Age 92, Passed away on May 13 (Mothers Day) 2012. Gerry had suffered from Dementia/ Alzheimer's for the past number of years and died peacefully in her sleep early Sunday morning. She was born the first child of Thomas and Lulu Seeley in Selby South Dakota. She is survived by her brother Dale Seeley of Olympia, Her sons, Dr. Michael McCarty of Ramona, California and Timothy McCarty of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She also has six grand children, Sean, Dugan, Morgan, Megan, Shannon and Seamus. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James Patrick McCarty. Gerry attended Olympia High School and that's where she met her classmate and future husband Jimmy. Jimmy had joined the army air core after graduation and Gerry and Jimmy were married in Merced California as Jimmy traveled with the Corps for flight training. After the war they moved to Aberdeen where their first son was born. They later moved to California where they lived for 10 years and their second son was born. They then moved back to Washington and then later to Alaska. Gerry worked as a secretary for the Federal government for 20 years in the various locations. When Jimmy became ill they moved to be closer to her son in California. Upon Jimmy's death Gerry continued to live by her son and eventually got to be close to her Great Grandchildren Morgan and Marcia. Geraldine will forever be remembered as a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She will also be revered for her musical talents, her best friend Max the dog and her many other friendships. She will now rest alongside Jimmy at the Riverside National Cemetery.
