HERMAN C. BERLIN
Herman Charles Berlin, 83 years of age, Spanish-American War veteran, was found dead about 8 o'clock Thursday morning, January 22, at his home at 416 S. Locust Street. He had been in ill health for several years.
He was born December 2, 1875, in Burlington, Iowa, a son of the late William and Dora Richter Berlin. His wife, Laura Heitmeyer died in 1908 Survivors include two sons and one daughter, Wilford Berlin of Wichita, KA., Clifford Berlin of Muscatine, IA., and Mrs. Fred Carlson of South Haven, Kansas, 15 grand-children and 21 great-grand-children. Other survivors are one brother and one sister, Ed Berlin of Monroe City, and Mrs. Roy L. Bowers of Wichita, KA. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
He was a charter member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 4240.
The body was removed to the Garner funeral home where rites were conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon by Rev. Harold L. Dodd, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial was in Andrew Chapel cemetery near Warren, MO.
Casket bearers were: Thomas Pierceall, Andrew Geist, Russell B. Smith, Mike Kendrick, William Gibbs and Joseph Thompson.
